How to maintain and upkeep straw gas generators? The key to extending the lifespan of equipment

1、 Daily inspection: prevent problems before they happen

Check raw materials: Ensure that the pulverization and dryness of straw entering the gasifier meet the requirements, and avoid blockage of the furnace body by long grass and wet materials.

Observing gas quality: Regularly observe the color and odor of the purified gas. If a strong tar smell or abnormal color is found, it may indicate a problem with the purification system.

Monitor the running sound: The running sound of the generator set should be smooth and rhythmic. If abnormal knocking, surging, or other situations occur, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection.

Record operating parameters: Detailed records of gasifier temperature, generator power, voltage, frequency, water temperature, oil pressure and other parameters for easy tracking of equipment status and fault analysis.

2、 Regular maintenance: carried out step by step according to the cycle

1. Maintenance of gasifier and purification system (per shift/weekly/monthly)

Ash cleaning: The ash residue at the bottom of the gasifier needs to be cleaned regularly to avoid dust accumulation affecting ventilation and reaction.

Cleaning and purification equipment: Spray towers, filters, condensers, and other purification devices are places where tar and impurities accumulate, and filter cartridges must be regularly cleaned or replaced according to usage. This is the most critical link in ensuring the lifespan of the generator set.

Check sealing: The entire gasification system should operate under negative or slightly positive pressure, and regularly inspect the connections of pipelines, valves, and flanges for any air leaks.

2. Maintenance of gas generator set (refer to engine manual)

Oil and Filter: Strictly replace the oil, oil filter, air filter, and gas filter according to the number of hours or intervals. Due to the possibility of trace impurities in straw gas, the frequency of filter replacement may be higher than in pure natural gas engines.

Spark plugs: Regularly inspect, clean, or replace spark plugs to ensure proper functioning of the ignition system.

Cooling system: Check the coolant level and quality, clean the dust and debris on the surface of the radiator to ensure effective heat dissipation.

Valve clearance adjustment: Regularly check and adjust the valve clearance according to the manufacturer’s requirements to ensure engine power and economy.

3、 Common faults and troubleshooting

Insufficient gas production or poor gas quality: The reasons may be unqualified raw materials, low gasifier temperature, or coking inside the furnace. Need to check the raw materials, adjust the air volume, or shut down the furnace for coke cleaning.

The decrease in power of the generator set may be due to insufficient gas pressure, clogged filters, ignition system failure, or engine carbon buildup. The gas supply pipeline, filter replacement, and ignition system maintenance should be checked in sequence.

Sudden shutdown of the unit: Check if the protective device is activated (such as overheating, overspeed, low oil pressure), and if the gas supply is interrupted.

4、 Establish and maintain archives and provide professional training

Establish a complete maintenance file for each device, recording all maintenance and repair records. At the same time, professional training should be provided to operation and maintenance personnel, so that they not only know how to operate, but also understand the principles, maintain, and handle simple faults.

Conclusion:
The principle of ’70% maintenance, 30% repair’ also applies to straw gas power generation systems. Institutionalizing, standardizing, and archiving maintenance work is the foundation for ensuring the continuous creation of value for this green energy asset. Through careful care, a high-quality straw gas power generation equipment can operate stably for more than ten years, becoming a reliable “green printing machine” for users.
