1、 What is a biomass generator?
The biomass generator does not directly burn straw to generate electricity, but through a “gasification” process. The complete system usually includes straw pretreatment equipment, gasifier, purification system, and gas generator set. The core principle is to conduct high-temperature pyrolysis of biomass materials such as straw under anaerobic conditions, producing a mixed gas mainly composed of combustible gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen, methane, etc. – straw gas (also known as biomass gas), and then passing this gas into a dedicated gas generator unit to ultimately drive the generator to generate electricity.
2、 The workflow of biomass power generation
Preprocessing: The collected straw needs to be crushed, dried, and processed to achieve the appropriate gasification size and humidity to ensure gasification efficiency.
Gasification: Pre treated straw is sent into a gasifier, where complex thermochemical reactions occur under high temperature (usually 700-1100 ℃) and limited oxygen supply conditions, converting solid biomass into gaseous fuel.
Purification: The crude gas produced contains impurities such as tar, dust, and moisture, which can seriously damage power generation equipment. Therefore, it must be removed through purification devices such as cooling, filtering, and washing to obtain clean straw gas.
Power generation: Clean straw is fed into a gas internal combustion engine, mixed with air, ignited, and drives the piston to move, driving the generator to rotate and generate electrical energy.
3、 Significant advantages of straw gas power generation
Resource Reuse: Converting discarded straw into high-grade electrical and thermal energy achieves the recycling of resources.
Environmentally friendly: Effectively eliminates the outdoor burning of straw, reduces haze, fire hazards, and greenhouse gas emissions. The gasification process itself is carbon neutral, as the carbon dioxide released from combustion comes from CO ₂ absorbed by plants during growth.
Economic benefits: Providing low-cost electricity and heat to rural areas, reducing energy costs for agricultural production and daily life. At the same time, the generated plant ash is high-quality potassium fertilizer that can be returned to the field for use.
Energy Security: The decentralized power generation model reduces dependence on traditional power grids, enhances regional energy self-sufficiency and stability.
Conclusion:
The straw gas generator technology transforms headache inducing agricultural waste into valuable clean energy, serving as a green bridge connecting agriculture and the energy industry. With the continuous advancement of technology and the continuous reduction of costs, it will play an increasingly important role in the future rural revitalization and carbon neutrality strategies, truly realizing the sustainable development vision of “taking from the fields and returning to the people”.
